THIS ARTWORK

Moloa’a (“Mole oh ah ah”) Bay’s right side is well protected from the Pacific by a broad swath of reef that wraps the corner providing home to many beautiful aquatic creatures. Even at high tide the waters here are shallow and at low tide, like this watercolor, the reef and lava rock rise above the lapping waves and dry to a golden ochre color to beautifully compliment the blues and purples of the subsurface foundations and shadows.

THE ORIGINAL

A 9 x 12 in. watercolor hand painted “en plein air” on Arches 100% cotton, 140lb. rough watercolor paper using Winsor & Newton’s artist grade colors and sea water from the actual location.
