THIS ARTWORK

The rocky cliff that guards the left side of Shipwrecks is a 35 ft. tall lithified sand dune marking a dramatic entrance to the spectacular Maha’ulepu Heritage Ridge trail. Whether painting from the beach or the trail, I always enjoy the dramatic cliffs and pounding surf along Keoneloa Bay in Poipu. On this particular afternoon the suns golden rays sparkled on the cliff side and were reflected in the turquoise waves. I love the way the playful use of color in this painting captures the vivid experience of Kauai’s sunny south side.
